What were the challenges?
In order to meet consumer demand for its festive offering, Pickering’s Gin needed to make vital upgrades at its Summerhall Distillery site in Edinburgh: new kit, a new production line, and a strong seasonal workforce. The three-year-old business therefore required quick, efficient investment - but could not offer much security and had found its bank difficult to deal with. It also wanted to expand its regular operations, so needed assistance with financial matters and specialist advice on funding options in the food & drink sector.
How did we overcome these challenges?
After raising £350,000 using the Lending Crowd platform, Pickering’s Gin appointed us to provide outsourced services including payroll, regulatory advice, and tax work, and to support the founders in growing the business.
What impact did we have?
We have supported Pickering’s Gin through its rapid expansion over the past few years. In that time, it has become the official gin of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, opened Beijing's first ever gin bar, expanded into new markets such as the US and Australia, and grown its festive offering. Matt Gammell, one of the founders, commented that we “have been fantastic in guiding the company through the ever-changing distillery landscape and helping us realise our growth potential.”
